Roberta Weir MA, RP
Individual, Couples and Family Counsellor
I am a registered individual and family psychotherapist. I work with children and adolescents who are struggling due to early trauma, adoption, divorce, and loss. I use an attachment-based, family-centered approach which emphasizes acceptance, empathy and curiosity.
I also specialize in the unique challenges faced by First Responders. Informed by my experience as a First Responder and persistent research, I am familiar with the systemic impact on the family system. My approach is holistic and collaborative; focusing on emotional, cognitive, relational, and spiritual well-being I am also skilled in working with depression, anxiety and loss.
I have training in Dyadic Developmental Psychology (DDP) which focuses on children in care and adopted children struggling with attachment difficulties; Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT); and Somatic Experiencing (SE). I am an integrative therapist grounded in Object Relations and Self Psychology.
I bring a unique background to my individual and family therapy practice. As a former first responder, and a mother of four adult children, I understand the demands faced by parents and the systemic impact of trauma on the family system.
